SERIES 3 of the Wauchope Bonny Hills Surf Life Saving Club’s Beach Bonds were launched at Rainbow Beach on Sunday February 19, 2005.
The launch featured the club’s sole Australian champion gold medal winner, Natalie Bayly and two rising stars Natalie Buckley and Kane Charles.
Beach Bonds are available for sale through the Hastings Gazette newspaper 16-20 Milton Circuit, PORT MACQUARIE NSW 2444.
Mayor of Port Macquarie Hastings Council, Cr Rob Drew, officially launched the Bonds and also handed over $1000 to kick start the fundraising for Series #3.
He said money raised from the Bonds would be put to good use by the club to continue its good work, particularly at the junior level. “I am very proud to be here today to launch the Beach Bonds on behalf of the club and the community,” Mayor Drew said.
“All money raised from these Bonds will be used to further continue the good work carried out by your club at the nippers level and also in continuing to provide modern equipment for use by all members."
"It is great to see that Natalie Bayly – the club’s only Australian Championships gold medal winner – here today as well as the two other local club members, Natalie Buckley and Kane Charles.
Both these young people epitomize your club and the surf life saving movement.
Congratulations on the Beach Bonds and good luck with the sale of Bonds.”
The Beach Bonds have been a major fundraising initiative for the club and were the brainchild of Garrick Gabriel from Old School Rawdon Island. The Beach Bonds are promoted through the Hastings Gazette each week.
Both Kane and Natalie have come through the ranks of the club from first competition age groups in under 8s to competing in open competition at State and Australian championships.
Natalie Bayly said she was thrilled to play a part in the club’s Beach Bond and to come home for the launch.
“It is nice to be remembered in such a way and I’m very proud of the achievement,” she said.
Our thanks to
Harvey World Travel Wauchope who sponsored Natalie Bayly’s visit from Sydney.
