STOP PRESS: Nippers calendar for the 2009-10 season.

Our club was one of the first in NSW to form a "nippers" group - Nippers participate in events like beach sprints, relays, wading, surf swims, board paddling, ironman and board races (depending on the age group). We also encourage our young members to learn to enjoy the beach safely and to gain leadership skills.

Nippers usually begins at 9am every second Sunday morning (or so, depending on the competition timetable). Carnivals are held during the season - kids in the Under 8s and up are able to compete, if they have completed the appropriate proficiency test(s). Note: age groups are based on what age the child is as at 30th September.

Children are encouraged to wear a sun visor and rash shirt while on the beach and to apply sunscreen as a means of protecting themselves from the sun. We also suggest kids bring a frozen water bottle to Nippers to ensure they stay hydrated.

We have small body-boards for the U/6 & 7 year olds, and thanks to Bennett Surfboards and Coastline Credit Union we have nippers rescue boards (click here for details)!

We are continuing to support the popular local Learn to Surf Program and a range of awards & qualifications ranging from Surf Awareness, Bronze Medallion to Surf Rescue Certificates.

Like any sports club, we need parents to support us by ensuring they supervise their kids on the beach. Our Age Managers also need support and we have a roster for assisting with the post-Nippers BBQ. Parents please note: this is NOT a drop and run activity!!.
