The Wauchope-Bonny Hills SLSC is well known as the ‘family club’. There certainly is something for everyone in the family to be involved in! In fact Surf Lifesaving is one of the few sports where mum, dad, kids and grandparents can not only participate and compete, but they can assist the community as well.
For the younger kids, Wauchope-Bonny Hills JAC is one of the best 'Nippers' clubs on the Mid North Coast, where kids can have fun and gain confidence in the surf. For teenagers, the club offers an opportunity to learn new skills and potentially gain awards or qualifications in Surf Awareness, Surf Safety, Resuscitation, Surf Rescue, Emergency Care, Radio Operations and First Aid. We also have Bronze Medallion and IRB training available. Board riding is another popular activity at Rainbow Beach - groups like the Mal De Mer Longboard Riders Club meet on the 1st Sunday of each month.
Parents are always needed to assist with beach set up for our Nippers Days or with the feeding the hungry at our club BBQs. Those with the appropriate qualifications are also in demand to help out our Age Managers and to assist with Patrols and Water Safety.
There is plenty of interest in surf boat training & racing - it really is an exhilarating sport, and is one you can carry on into your 40s and beyond. Our club participates in SLSA carnivals at all levels - it you have a competitive streak, then make sure you get involved.
Our membership is mostly drawn from the local neighbourhood, so if you're new to the area, come down and introduce yourselves.
Like any community-based organisation, the Wauchope Bonny Hills SLSC continually searches for volunteers to help keep the club running efficiently and for fundraising opportunities to bolster the club’s coffers. If you can help in either regard, please let us know.
See the "Contact Us" page for contact details for the various acitivities.
